Joint Sand Question

Hi there, I have a question regarding joint sand. We set these really nice thick pavers in my back yard to create a patio and then laid down the sandcrete stuff to fill the gaps in between. The problem we had is that it never solidified. We followed the instructions with the misting and what not and I am in Florida (this was done while it was very hot) so it got plenty of sun and should've had enough time to dry.

Now a good portion of the sand has run off and I am at a loss because I don't want to spend all that money again to buy 12 buckets of this stuff for it not to work but I need to put something down. Ever run across this?

I know of the sandcrete product (1 part portland cement:8 parts sand), but have never used it for paver or stone joints. If you decide to remove the sandcrete and try again, maybe switch to a product designed for paver/stone joints. Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe someone else out there has experience with this product.

Your failure isn't surprising. I'd try something in line with Sand Lock, which will get very hard when dry, yet remain flexible when moisture is present. This was, it will continue to 'repair' itself everytime water is present. Depending on how you did on the indstallation of the pavers, you may me experiencing more issues than expected, because many times, proper base compaction was not doen. If that's the case, your pavers are shifting more than usual, and Sandcrete does not have the ability to repair itself. A big draw with sandlock, is you can activate it once, rather than numerous mistings.
