Hi, I'm planning to put in a Holland stone paver pad and walkway in a herringbone 90° pattern. Can you help me with a couple questions? Been looking at books and internet for how to start the pattern. First let me describe my area. It's a 13x25 foot pad behind a drivethough gate at the top of my driveway. Also there will be a 3 foot wide walkway coming off of it about ½ way down the 13ft left side. There is also a 90° turn in the walkway. I think I need to start laying in the front left corner where it meets the driveway.
I see a couple different ways to place the first pavers in the corner. How to decide which way I want? Does the overall dimensions matter? Is there a set ratio that works best? I can adjust the 13x25 size.
Then how to continue off to the walkway? I figure you just continue the diagonal row into the walkway area. Then how do you continue?
If we lay a soldier course first how do you do it so you don't walk on the sand? I have a shed on one side and a fence on the other so there is no outside space in those places. My husband is concerned about the sand.
